On January 18, Jo Byung Gyu revealed that six of the actors who play the children of “SKY Castle” had gathered to celebrate their co-star’s birthday the day before. The actor shared a photo of himself posing next to a birthday cake with Kim Hye Yoon, Kim Bo Ra, Song Gun Hee, Park Yoo Na, and Kim Dong Hee, all of whom are currently starring in the hit drama alongside Chani.
In the caption, Jo Byung Gyu playfully wrote, “Chani’s birthday without Chani.” He also referred to his co-stars using a number of fun nicknames, such as “Kim Purple” for Kim Bo Ra (bora is the Korean word for purple), “My Mel” (short for the Sanrio character My Melody) for Kim Hye Yoon, “Princess Elsa” for Kim Dong Hee, and “Club MD noona” for Park Yoo Na.
“SKY Castle” is a satirical, black-comedy drama that follows an elite group of privileged and ambitious women. Not only do they strive to further the careers of their husbands, but they are also determined to ensure the success of their children by getting them into the most prestigious universities—at any cost necessary.
The drama, which currently airs on Fridays and Saturdays at 11 p.m. KST, has been setting new viewership ratings records with each new episode. Not only has it repeatedly broken the record for the highest viewership ratings ever achieved by a JTBC drama, but it also appears to be on track to break the record for the highest ratings of any cable network drama (set by tvN’s “Goblin” in 2016).
